About our client

HF Holidays have been creating walking and activity holidays for people of all abilities since 1913.

They are the UK’s only co-operative holiday provider. Because they are owned by their members, all profits are invested back into their holidays

Need for change

Rachel Page, Direct Marketing Manager at HF Holidays, contacted Justin Drayton, MD at RETHINK, in 2018 as part of a review of the supply of their direct marketing services.

The decision to engage with RETHINK was based on the added value they could bring through their vast direct marketing experience and a genuine commitment to top level customer service, as well as highly competitive rates and an accommodating and flexible approach to lead times.

Benefits of working with RETHINK

HF Holidays printed and mailed over 1 million pieces with RETHINK*, averaging a mailing every 10 days across various formats and processes including self-mailers, postcards, envelope insertions and polywrap mailings.

Campaign planning meetings between Justin and Rachel were held quarterly to scope who the mailings were going to, the format, size, scheduling and budgeting. Complete visibility of pricing via a pre-agreed matrix ensured that campaigns remained on budget and pricing was consistently competitive.

“These planning sessions were incredibly helpful. Justin really got to understand our business, our customers and what we wished to achieve through our direct marketing activity.

This consultative approach meant that HF Holidays gained from the extensive knowledge and experience of RETHINK. They provided innovative ideas and options that HF Holidays may not have thought about, as well as the peace of mind that the campaign would be implemented, produced and delivered to a high quality, on time and to budget.

“Justin genuinely had our best interests at heart. I’d ask him, “What’s the best way to do this?” He’d give us options with explanations, so we could make informed decisions.”

Rachel Page

Utilising their creative knowledge and resource, RETHINK was always available to liaise with HF Holidays’ in-house designer if required, providing advice about laying out unusual design formats, artwork set up and sizing. RETHINK values attention to detail so, although proofing was not part of the brief from HF Holidays, the RETHINK internal processes ensured pre-production checks were made covering artwork set-up, design and text, flagging any errors and questioning if something didn’t look quite right.

“RETHINK was an extension of our marketing department. We trusted them implicitly. They knew exactly what we needed, and we relied on them to get on with the job. Nothing was ever too much trouble, even when we made last minute changes!”

Rachel Page

HF Holidays had a dedicated partner in Justin, who was always available to answer queries and provide solutions that may not always have been instantly obvious.

In the past there had been problems matching campaigns to UK Mail postage invoices due to their mixed multiple project structure and complexity.

“Justin provided me with a unique reference number for each campaign that he also ensured was included as a specific line-by-line reference on our UK Mail postage invoices, which made it simple to reconcile. Something that other suppliers had told us wasn’t possible. This was a great timesaver and made my job so much easier.”
